Erfahren Sie mehr über friesische Gebräuche und Anekdoten, wie zum Beispiel „Rummelpott Laufen“: Am Silvesterabend ziehen Jung und Alt, verkleidet in allerlei lustigen und auch manchmal ein wenig schaurigen Kostümen von Haus zu Haus, um „Süßes oder Saures“ und gar einen kleinen Köm zu erbitten. Wer den Besuchern nichts schenkt, muss damit rechnen, dass ihm böse Streiche wiederfahren. Der „Rummelpott“ dient dabei als Sammelbehältnis für Bonbons und andere Gaben.

Learn more about Frisian traditions and anecdotes, for example the „Rummelpott Laufen“, a custom similar to Halloween, but taking place on New Year’s Eve, when young and old people disguise themselves by putting on all sorts of funny and sometimes somewhat spooky costumes and go from house to house asking for „Süßes oder Saures“ (trick or treat) or even a small glass of „Köm“, the typical local caraway-flavoured liquor. Any visitor who does not give them anything must be prepared to be on the receiving end of a bad trick. The „Rummelpott“, by the way, serves as a collection container for sweets and other offerings.
