Boßeln

Das Boßeln ist eine typisch friesische Sportart und entstand ca. Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts aus dem sog. “Klootschiessen”, das im Winter auf den zugefrorenen Wiesen gespielt wird. Es gilt, eine Kugel möglichst athletisch und weit über‘s Feld zu schleudern. Boßeln ist ein traditioneller friesischer Volkssport getreu der Devise: „Der Friese lernt zuerst das Laufen und dann das Boßeln…“

 

 

Klootstockspringen

Ähnlich wie beim Stabhochsprung wird mit einem langen Stock über Gräben und Siele gesprungen – aber nicht in die Höhe sondern in die Weite.

 

 

Ringreiten

Beim Ringreiten spießt der Reiter im Galopp mit einer kurzen Lanze einen kleinen Ring auf, was schon einiger Übung bedarf.

Boßeln

„Boßeln“ is a typically Frisian sport, first played in the middle of the 19th century. It can be compared with Irish road bowling and developed from the so-called „Klootschiessen“ (ball shooting), which is played on the frozen meadows in winter. In „Boßeln“ the idea is to throw a bowl as far and as athletically as possible across the field. It is a traditional Frisian popular sport true to the motto: „A Frisian learns first how to walk and after that he learns how to play Boßeln…“

 

 

Klootstockspringen

Similar to pole-vaulting, people use a long stick to jump across ditches and sluices – but the idea is to jump long rather than high.

 

 

Ring jousting

Ring jousting When ring jousting, the horse rider has to lift up a small ring with a short lance while galloping and this certainly takes some practice.
